Daeryun Law Firm recruits former Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs Ahn Il-hwan

Daeryun Law Firm announced on the 18th that it has hired Ahn Il-hwan (32nd civil service examination), former senior economic secretary, as an advisor.

Advisor Ahn graduated from Gyeongnam Masan High School and Seoul National University's Department of Commerce, and received a master's degree in economics from the University of Ottawa in Canada and a doctorate in public administration from the Catholic University of Korea. After passing the civil service examination in 1989 and entering public service, Advisor Ahn worked at the Economic Planning Board and the Ministry of Planning and Budget, and gained experience as a budget expert, including being dispatched to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the United States.

In addition, since the launch of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in 2008, he has held key positions such as head of the Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, budget system, and budget management department. In particular, as head of the budget system division, he oversaw the preparation of the supplementary budget during a time when the Korean economy was suffering due to the global financial crisis.

Afterwards, he held major positions such as Director of Planning and Budget at the Ministry of National Defense and Spokesperson at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, before becoming Director of the Budget Office and Second Vice Minister, and in 2021, he was selected as Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Presidential Secretariat.

Advisor Ahn said, “We have experienced numerous cases in the fiscal policy sector, such as leading the super budget formulation during COVID-19,” and added, “At Daeryun, we will also do our best to identify and clearly resolve acute conflicts of interest, including those of corporate customers.”
