What types of military disciplinary action do career soldiers receive?

Where a soldier violates an order under the Military Personnel Management Act, commits an act that damages their dignity, or violates their official duties or neglects their duties, this constitutes grounds for military disciplinary action.

The disciplinary actions imposed on a soldier who commits such acts include dismissal from office, dismissal, demotion, suspension, salary reduction, disciplinary confinement, and reprimand. Disciplinary action is imposed in the following cases.

① Reprimand : This means identifying the misconduct and admonishing the person not to commit misconduct in the future, and it applies where the degree of misconduct is minor and involves ordinary negligence

② Salary reduction : This means reducing an amount equivalent to one third of the remuneration, and it applies where the degree of misconduct is serious and involves ordinary negligence, or where the degree of misconduct is minor and involves gross negligence

③ Suspension and demotion : This means retaining the position but being unable to perform duties, or being lowered by 1 level in the applicable rank, and it applies where the degree of misconduct is serious and involves gross negligence, or where the degree of misconduct is minor and there is intent

④ Dismissal and removal from office : This means depriving the person of their status, and it applies where the degree of misconduct is serious and there is intent
