I am the parent of a victim of school violence; can I participate in the deliberation of that case?

If you are the parent of a victim of school violence, you cannot participate in the deliberation of that case.

In order to render a fair and objective decision, the School Violence Countermeasures Deliberation Committee, which deliberates school violence cases, excludes any person who has an interest in the relevant case.

For example, in the following cases, a person cannot participate in the deliberation.

▷ Where the committee member or a family member (such as a spouse) is the parent of the victim or the perpetrator in the relevant case

▷ Where the committee member has had a family relationship with the victim or the perpetrator of the school violence

▷ Where the committee member is close to the victim or the perpetrator of the school violence, or is recognized as having a connection to them

In other words, a parent who is the guardian of a student victim of school violence cannot participate as a deliberation member in the relevant case.
