When I looked it up on the internet, I heard that there are also hours set by law for debt collection and that failing to comply with those hours can be illegal. However, I am not exactly sure until when the debt collection hours run, and I am curious whether cases of receiving calls or visits at night or in the early morning also fall under this. If such conduct constitutes illegal debt collection, I would like to know whether filing a report or a legal response is actually possible.

Debt collection hours are clearly restricted by law, and debt collection that does not comply with them constitutes an illegal act and may be subject to a report.
Debt collection hours are set from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., so, in principle, calling or visiting in person in the early morning or late at night outside these hours is not permitted.
In particular, when a person repeatedly contacts or visits the debtor or a related person from after 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. the next day, thereby causing fear or anxiety and seriously harming the tranquility of private life or work, it is assessed as illegal debt collection.
Such a violation of debt collection hours may be subject to imprisonment for not more than 3 years or a fine of not more than 30 million won, so if you are suffering harm, you may secure the relevant evidence and consider filing a report or a legal response.
If you organize specific circumstances, such as text and call records and the times and number of visits, it will help to prove the illegality when consulting an attorney experienced in debt collection cases or filing a report with an investigative agency.
If anxiety or harm arising from debt collection is continuing, please request a consultation with an attorney experienced in debt collection cases in order to accurately determine whether the matter is illegal and to prepare an appropriate response.
